Primary graft dysfunction (PGD) has emerged as one of the most important risk factors for
short-term death after lung transplantation and chronic lung allograft dysfunction [1]. PGD is
associated with a robust inflammatory cascade, which not only causes direct damage to the
allograft but also augments alloimmunity as well as tissue-restricted autoimmunity, ultimately
