Many things about academic medicine are tmcerlain these days. Any statement made must
be accompanied by the phrase “until further notice.” This reservation certainly applies to my
topic on the optimal training of academic subspe&lists. It is not my intent to suggest specific
curricula or schedules of training. I want rather to comment in a more philosophic mode.
